Our Purpose

The Grange Centre provides vital services supporting people with learning and/or physical disabilities to lead independent and fulfilling lives. Their goals and aspirations shape everything we do.

We provide high quality housing for 90 adults with learning disabilities, either in supported living or within our group living accommodation.

We run a ‘Skills for Life’ programme which supports 119 adults. This programme builds confidence and practical skills for daily living, work or volunteering. The sessions include person-centred workshops in pottery, embroidery, woodwork, horticulture, and catering. These are run by tutors from professional backgrounds who are also trained at The Grange to deliver these evolving and individualised, small group sessions.

In our onsite café and professional kitchen, the People We Support gain hospitality and catering training through a working café open to the public and catering for in-house events. We use produce grown onsite in our catering and popular chutneys. Fruit, vegetables and flowers are sold in the garden shop daily.

We have a shop based on the local high-street which runs daily workshops where the People We Support design and make items for sale, as well as training in running a shop and monetary skills.

All of the items available in our online shop has been created or finished in a Skills for Life Session by a person we support, the income from our online sales are reinvested into the charity to continue providing our services.
